Located just outside Colchester, the University of Essex offers modern accommodation on its picturesque 200-acre Wivenhoe Park campus.  Stay in the historic park where landscape artist John Constable painted one of his famous works.

EDGC players staying on campus will benefit from:

  • Bed and breakfast, half and full board
  • En suite accommodation
  • Free parking with space for coaches
  • Many on site facilities including banks, shops, restaurants and bars
  • Free Wi-Fi

We have 250 rooms provisionally booked in 'The Houses' on the campus. These are beside the current Hole 10 and 11 for those of you familiar with the course from BDGO this year.

The Houses are located on the north side of campus in pleasant parkland. The walking distance to the centre of campus is approximately 5 minutes. There are six houses, each of which is a three-storey residence accommodating 42 or 46 people. The accommodation is arranged in self-contained flats of four, five or six students sharing a kitchen. Each room has its own en suite shower and toilet facilities. There are also a limited number of double rooms available.

Please click on the link below for a virtual tour of some features of The Houses.

The basic cost for  EC 2012 is for a Room and Breakfast. Players may also, if they wish, pre-book Lunch and Dinner. If they decide not to do so then there are local supermarkets and on-campus shops where they can buy food and cook it themselves in the kitchens.

Both Lunch (up to 3 courses) and Dinner (also up to 3 courses) are served in the Top restaurant and are substantial in quantity.

The University also has three restaurants and three bars. All are very well priced.

A pint of beer is £2, a lunchtime Salad with meat/fish is approximately £6 and there is a fast food restaurant for cheaper options.

Our experienced staff can help you to plan exciting itineraries to:

  • Colchester (Britain’s oldest recorded town and one time Roman capital of Britain) and its five museums including the Norman Castle keep
  • the pretty maritime heritage towns of Wivenhoe and Brightlingsea, one of the famous Cinque ports
  • the Essex Sunshine Coast with its mixture of seaside resorts, historic towns and villages and enjoy a cream tea at jam-making Tiptree, or a plate of cockles at quaint Leigh-on-Sea
  • Constable country – the Stour Valley with Dedham and Flatford Mill at the heart of this iconic British landscape artist
