The Tournament will be played on the Classic Course of Wivenhoe Park in Colchester at the University of  Essex.  Host to the 2011 British Disc Golf Open, the new 18 hole course has been re-designed in preparation for hosting the European Disc Golf Championships in 2012.

The European Disc Golf Championships were held at Essex in 1982 and the Open Division winner that year is this year’s EDGC Tournament Director, Charlie Mead. So for the 30th anniversary of this event Charlie and the EDGC team have designed a course that will demand of the best and provide a challenge to all.

The emphasis of this Championship is on bringing all aspects of a Major Disc Golf event together on one site. There will only be one 18-hole course which every competitor will play once a day. All accommodation will be on the course. All meals will be available on the University campus. All parties and social events will be based in the University bars and restaurants including a large Saturday night party, BBQ and Trading night.

This is a special year for Great Britain with the hosting of the Olympic Games and the Paralympics in London from 27th  July to 9th September 2012. The University of Essex is a major training centre for Olympic and Paralympic Teams and a number will be staying on the campus before and during the Games. Colchester is only 50 minutes away from the Olympic Park and is a popular venue for athletes and tourists alike. We have, however, managed to secure an excellent arrangement with the University due to our long-established relationship of hosting World Class Disc Golf and Ultimate Championships here since 1982.

The surrounding facilities in Colchester, both accommodation and food, are already well booked in advance by Olympic spectators and tourists, so we are fortunate to have the opportunity of accessing extremely reasonably priced rooms and meals as well as the other facilities needed for an event such as EDGC.
